Hunger in the Democratic Republic of the Congo has risen by over 20% as conflict, displacement, and economic strain make it harder for families to survive. Ongoing violence forces millions from their homes, stopping farmers from planting and cutting communities off from food and clean water. Major roads are often unsafe, limiting the delivery of aid. Rising global food prices and climate disasters like floods and droughts make basic meals unaffordable. Disease outbreaks such as cholera and malaria add even more pressure. These combined challenges have created a severe hunger emergency, especially in Ituri, North Kivu, and South Kivu, where children and displaced families face the greatest risk.
